Guangzhou Arbitration Court of International Shipping was established by Guangzhou Arbitration Commission (GZAC) together with Administrative Committee of Nansha Development Zone of Guangzhou, Guangzhou Port Authority, and Hong Kong and Macau Arbitration Institutes on November 19, 2015 in Nansha Free Trade Pilot Zone. It may provide legal consultation and services in term of shipping arbitration for the parties involved, and resolve disputes over maritime affairs, maritime commerce, logistic, finance, insurance, technology license and other contractual or non-contractual disputes by arbitration in a justified and timely manner, so as to practically sustain the legitimate rights and interests of each party involved in an international transaction, improve the credit of Guangzhou in resolving international maritime commercial disputes, and build a sound and law-based business environment.

In order to effectively improve the shipping arbitration services in Guangzhou and provide intellectual support for the construction of Guangzhou International Shipping Center, Guangzhou Arbitration Court of International Shipping established a talent pool of maritime and shipping experts in February 2016, to invite people engaging in maritime affairs, maritime commerce, and shipping-related business at home and abroad to join the talent pool. The establishment of the talent pool has effectively enhanced the strength of Guangzhou Arbitration Court of International Shipping to hear various types of difficult maritime cases fairly and efficiently.
